Space King came from nowhere and did a ton of money on Kickstarter recently and I must confess, I’ve no idea about the IP or even the gameplay. When I checked out the campaign at the time, it looked like some kind of Space Hulk parody, though taking over £7m in funding just goes to show what I know about popular culture.
Now off the back of this success, Warren James Games are looking at creating a Helluva Boss Cooperative board game, based on the older age rated animation of the same game. In my experience, as long as you have some solid gameplay in there the fans will forgive the occasional misstep, however I must sat I’m intrigued by the seeming large amount of work that has gone into the games mechanics, and the mention of a tower? We’ll see how important it is to the gameplay or if like Fate of the Fellowship, it’s an atmospheric must have as opposed to a requirement to play.
There’s a lot of systems in play here, and my normal cynical crowdfunding view is maybe a bit more open to finding out more. It will be interesting to see how it ties closely into the show, while balancing the tricky act of trying to please the fans, who can cheer you to glory or be very vocal. Details are sparse at present, and if it’s something we’ll delve into further you’ll more than likely hear us mention in on an upcoming podcast.
Press Release below.
“LOS ANGELES, CA. – (Oct. 8, 2026) — Following their successful $10M Kickstarter for SPACE KING: The Board Game, Warren James Games today announced their next project: Helluva Boss: The Seven Sigils. Based on “Helluva Boss”, the popular animated series currently streaming on Amazon Prime and YouTube, the Warren James Games team worked closely with creator Vivienne Medrano, aka VivziePop, and SpindleHorse to faithfully capture the dark comedy and supernatural elements that fans love.
“Giving fans new ways to step into the worlds they love is why we do what we do,” said Nate Murray, Head of Games at Warren James Games. “Vivienne and the SpindleHorse team have built something incredible with Helluva Boss, and getting to play in that world has been an absolute blast. We can’t wait for fans to gather around the table and discover what we’ve created together!”
Fans of the hit series and board game aficionados can now check out the landing page for more information and details. A sneak peek of the game can be viewed, in addition to signing up for future notifications, news and more on the site ahead of the Kickstarter campaign’s official launch.
Key elements of the board game include:
-
A cooperative game built around magical experimentation. Everyone wins or loses together by completing all seven Sigils.
-
A physical Tower drives the game. Players drop Sin Shards into the tower, and what emerges determines the options available to the group.
-
Seven rings, seven decks, seven Sigils. The game’s structure is directly built around the Seven Rings of Hell.
-
Every success makes the puzzle harder. Completing one Sigil increases the requirements of the Sigils beside it, creating a cascading strategic puzzle.
-
Spells let players break the rules. Single-use Spell Cards can manipulate cards and other game systems, but casting them requires Gold.
-
Built-in difficulty scaling. Groups can remix the Sigils or start them at higher requirements for significantly harder games.
“There’s a whole side of the society in hell we haven’t fully explored and I’m excited to offer a sliver of that in the form of a super fun collaborative tabletop experience,” said Adam Neyland, a Senior Writer at SpindleHorse.”
