Blood Bowl Creator Jervis Johnson Returns with DreadBall: All-Stars
Now this is interesting. Dreadball for me has always been a bit of an overlooked classic. Those who played it have waxed lyrical about how great it is compared to the GW behemoth. It’s going to be a head on clash, with the recent release of 3rd edition BB. I think we are going to see some original Blood Bowl purists wanting to get their hands on this version of Dreadball, just to see where things align and how it plays. It’s an interesting play Cotton, let’s see how it plays out.
Mantic Games Launch the Sci-Fi Sports Board Game on Kickstarter, March 17th
Set in a sci-fi future where mega-corporations sponsor violent sports entertainment across the galaxy, DreadBall: All-Stars is a 2-player board game where players coach all-star teams in high-stakes arena matches packed with tactics, chaos, and glory.
Created by a dream team of Blood Bowl creator Jervis Johnson, veteran designer Alessio Cavatore, and acclaimed artist Stefan Kopinski, DreadBall: All-Stars delivers futuristic sports in explosive 60-minute matches.
“I’ve always loved designing sports games, and with DreadBall: All-Stars I’ve created a board game where the action is fast-paced and non-stop,” says Jervis Johnson. “If Blood Bowl is like American Football, then All-Stars is like a full-contact version of NBA Basketball, with lots of opportunities to score, and just as many opportunities to flatten the opposition!”
Unlike traditional miniatures sports games requiring extensive team-building and long sessions, DreadBall: All-Stars features pre-assembled miniatures, streamlined rules and fixed team rosters designed for faster, more immediate play.
“All-Stars is a completely new experience set in the DreadBall universe, rebuilt from the ground up,” says Mantic Games CEO Ronnie Renton. “This isn’t the DreadBall you may remember; Jervis has created a stand-alone game that takes everything players loved about the series and removes the barriers. The result is a game that captures the thrill of fantasy sports, designed to be enjoyed by new and existing players.”
