Mantic pushing out new releases is going to please the fan base. This seems to be a bit of an expansion to the lore and universe with a potential crossover of the void. Tying in with the normal solid rulesets then this seems like a great time to get the game backs to the table of maybe give them a look see for the first time.
Nottingham, England; May 31, 2024 – Mantic Games are launching a ‘summer of sci-fi’: an exciting series of events and new releases for Deadzone (a skirmish game between elite squads on special missions) and the award-winning battle game Firefight (futuristic combined arms battles between both infantry and vehicles).
Beginning with a web-based alternate reality game, players were invited last week to go undercover inside Mazon Labs, one of the notorious corporations of the Warpath Universe, discovering an industrial accident with grave consequences for the galaxy. Experiments with fledgling wormhole technology have gone disastrously wrong – and created an opening between the Void and real-space…and let loose an unthinkable evil…
Mantic fans will be familiar with the concept of the Void from Kings of War, a place that exists between dimensions, independently from real-time and real-space – and home to the terrifying Nightstalker faction, who already channel an aesthetic based in both cosmic and classic alien horror. In the lore, this faction is a menace that spreads rapidly through fear – once you know about them, it’s already too late!
And now, this threat is pouring through into the Warpath Universe in spectacular fashion with both terrifying new miniatures and fan-favourites with brand new sci-fi upgrades.
There’s even more to come, with the much-awaited ‘refresh’ of the Asterian range following soon after in July (a drone army controlled by an ancient and mysterious empire), a brand new 2-player set, and rumour has it that Mantic’s much-loved Matsudan are set to receive a whole range of new kits as well…
